Thanks to Wendy O’Connell for showcasing Brattleboro recovery rock star Vanessa Santana on the Here We Are program! Vanessa shares her story, from childhood through addiction to recovery, from trauma to healing, to becoming a coach and leader in the recovery community. Vanessa is an inspiration and helps so many in our community! She’s worked hard on her recovery and feels alive today!
Vanessa worked hard to reunite with her daughters and now helps other families through Turning Point’s New Moms in Recovery Program and Families United, a group she started to help families involved with DCF (

The Root Social Justice Center

). She works as a coach at the

Brattleboro Memorial Hospital

emergency department and with the Project CARE team (

Brattleboro Police Department

). She keeps it fun–check out her Adventures in Recovery outdoor program. And she does it all with joy and grace! You’re amazing, Vanessa!

(Note: We’re grateful to

Recovery Vermont

for the many training programs they provide, particularly the Vermont Recovery Coach Academy, the foundation for so many of our programs. The

Vermont Recovery Network

provides additional training and center support.)
